Battery energy storage systems (BESS) are sophisticated solutions that store and release electrical energy as required, improving grid performance and offering services like peak shaving, load leveling, frequency regulation, and voltage support. This enhances grid reliability and efficiency.

Kędzierzyn BESS is envisaged to have the following revenue streams:

• availability-based capacity payments, covering vast majority of capex over the 17 years guaranteed contractual period, under the capacity market auctioning system

• energy prices peak/off-peak arbitrage and trading

• electric vehicle (EV) charging stations,

• frequency and other services to the grid

• energy balancing services, balancing market

• connectivity suport for RES installations

• Aggregation, charging stations supply

• other third party services

The Kędzierzyn - Koźle BESS parameters

  • 200 MW of Power

  • 800 MWh of Capacity

  • Located in Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Opole Voivodship

  • Land plot has been secured on an area of 8,5 ha under local spatial development plan

  • Grid connection to the network of PSE

  • Kędzierzn BESS will have capacity market general certification for the capacity market main auction in December 2025, with capacity delivery availability-based payments under 17 years contract with PSE, guaranteed by the State, plus additional quarterly auctions extending contractual coverage by additional 2 years
